ERRO
1932
An Icelandic painter, a major figure in Narrative Figuration, Erro has been a virtuoso of collage since the end of the 1950s, using magazine illustrations, Chinese propaganda images or American comic books. Favoring visual shocks and combining temporalities and spaces, his creations are comical, disturbing, humorous and derisory. In these collages, which are often at the genesis of his paintings, Erro mocks consumer society, denounces the disasters of war, when he is not attached to the world of art. Erro is present in the collections of the largest museums of contemporary art in the world.
